THE NEW PLAYS
*30
by Victoria Sviggum
A group of school friends are turning thirty in the coming year, each of them at seemingly different places in their lives, each of them secretly craving something another has. Aspiring actress Grace longs for career recognition like Camilla; meanwhile Camilla realises she yearns
for more emotional connection and love which she sees in Tilly’s life. Aditi is envious of Grace for having the courage to forge her own path while Freya wishes she had the strong familial relationships and stability that ground Aditi. Meanwhile Tilly finds herself searching for more meaning and purpose which she sees reflected in Freya’s life as a teacher.
It’s witty and playful while highlighting the quiet loneliness that can linger, even among the closest of friends.
